Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who should use this site?

This site is designed for people with simple divorces or Legal Separations with or without children. A simple divorce may include the following: asset division, debt allocation, parenting plan, child support, spousal maintenance (alimony), retirement and pension accounts, etc.

2. How is this site different from other sites that provide legal documents?

Other sites can provide fill-in-the-blank legal documents for you to fill in. This site provides legal pleadings suitable for filing with any court in the State of Washington and personal guidance from an attorney licensed in Washington State. Each order comes with county-specific rules and step-by-step instructions, and a timeline on what to do with each finished document received.

3. What happens if the attorney calls and, I don’t answer the phone?

The attorney will try two times, five minutes apart to contact you. If you do not answer the phone on the second call, a message will be left with instructions on how to set a new appointment.

4. If I don’t answer the phone when the attorney calls, do I still have to pay for the time?

The first time you miss a call from the attorney, the appointment may be rescheduled without a fee. If you miss a call after rescheduling the first missed call or a future appointment after you have missed any previously scheduled appointment, the fee is nonrefundable.

5. Why do you keep my fee if I miss a second appointment?

The attorney sets aside the scheduled appointment for you and is generally not able to rebook the appointment to someone else. Each person shall receive a one-time rescheduled appointment without fee.

6. If I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, how do I do it?

Use the contact form on the website. To receive a code to set a new appointment at no cost, you must request to cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Cancelled or appointments rescheduled within 48 hours of the appointment will not receive a refund.

7. What happens to my money once I pay for the order?

Your money is kept in an IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts) until the work paid for is completed by the attorney. IOLTA pools interest with other Attorney IOLTA to provide civil legal aid to the poor and support improvements to the justice system. The account is separate from the Attorney’s bank account.
